Chapter 20

Preston’s day had started as a normal Friday, but it’d grown weird after lunch when he received a call from Ridgely. It wasn’t unusual to speak to his mate during the day, and it thrilled Preston when Ridgely’s schedule allowed them to chat. However, the fallen knight rarely requested that Preston do anything specific, and at one o’clock Ridgely had asked Preston to take a nap. Prodding at Ridgely had produced no details about why it was important that Preston get some rest, but the hybrid wasn’t overly concerned.

In the evenings, they often watched movies if they weren’t hanging out with their family, so Preston assumed Ridgely had found something good for them to watch. Preston had happily pulled a throw over himself and curled up with his kittens to get some rest. It had taken some time to fall asleep. Preston was meeting Ridgely’s family the following night, and his nerves were frayed. Thankfully, Preston had finally drifted off.

The kittens were pouncing on their toys, and Preston was folding up the blanket when the door to the suite he shared with Ridgely opened to reveal the fallen knight.

“Hi, Beautiful, how was your nap?” Ridgely asked as he strode to Preston and kissed his dimples.

“I can’t believe I slept so long. It was good. Did you have a nice afternoon?”

“Yeah, it’s still weird being in an office by myself, but it’s cool to see so much of Gentry, Toby, Jack, and Dom.”

“Are they excited about tomorrow night?”

“They are,” Ridgely said, resting his hands on Preston’s hips. “I am too. But let’s talk about tonight.”

Preston leaned up and brushed his lips against Ridgely’s. “Okay. What’s going on tonight?”

“I’ll give you some details, but I want some surprises for you too. Are you good with that?”

“Yeah. What details?”

“We’re going on a double date with your brother and Hunter. They’ve picked a casual restaurant for us to enjoy, so we don’t have to get dressed up. How does that sound?”

“I love that idea,” Preston said with a smile. “I guess I don’t even need to change.”

“Nope, all you’re missing is shoes. I have to switch out of my uniform though. While I’m doing that, I need a favor.”

“Okay.”

“I’m going to hop into the shower because I was running all over Vegas this afternoon. I need you to get the lube out and stretch yourself.”

With a heavy blink, Preston stared at Ridgely. “What?”

Ridgely laughed, then kissed Preston’s dimples again. “Grab the lube from the drawer and get your hole ready for me.”

“Are we having sex before dinner?”

“No, so don’t go crazy with it. Just need you loosened up for later. No details on that. It’s a surprise.”

“It’s not much of a surprise, Ridge. We’re going to have sex or I’ll use a toy.”

“No need to get irritated, Dimples. I want to fuck you. That’s why you need to be ready.”

“Okay,” Preston said.

After another buss to his mouth, Ridgely sidestepped Preston to greet the kittens and get his clothes from the closet. “I’d do it for you, but we both know I’d wind up making us miss dinner.
